Last night, the 6th of September 2017, saw the running of the Grant Thornton Corporate Challenge in association with Athletics Ireland and Athletics Northern Ireland. This challenge is aimed at encouraging social running amongst the business community in Dublin, Cork and Belfast, as well as supporting the Make a Wish Foundation. A number of Strata3 employees took to the docks of Dublin last night to partake in this challenge.

A Race around the Docks
There was a huge turnout for the event with just over 4200 participants all togging out to support a great cause: the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The course was quick and flat, starting outside the Grant Thornton offices on City Quay, over the Matt Talbot Bridge down to the 3Arena and looping back around over the Samuel Beckett Bridge. There was then a short loop around some of the side streets and back over the Samuel Beckett Bridge with a left turn onto North Wall Quay, and a straight run to the Finish Line at Custom House Quay.
Some of the elite athletes stormed off from the gun and finished with impressive sub 16 minute times. First home for Strata3 was Michael Hanton in a time of 19.59 followed by Ciaran Canavan in 23.55. Oriana Corbett took third place for the Strata3 participants in a time of 32.54 and next to finish was Susan O’Neill in 39.58. The PM crew of Aisling Conroy, David Treanor and Louise Ryan made up the rest of the Strata3 participants all successfully finishing the course.
The event was extremely well organised and everyone had an enjoyable time. We topped off the evening with some well deserved pints in the Lombard.
