Dublin SPCA
Strata3 were commissioned to redesign and redevelop the www.dspca.ie website on the Strata3 Webcentre content management system in April 2010. The shelter is located in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. Its mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the compassionate relationship between animals and people. It is a charitable, non-profit, independent organisation operating in the Dublin city and county. In addition, the DSPCA are about to open a state-of-the-art Public Veterinary Clinic in November 2010 where 100% of the profits will go directly to helping rescued animals. The shelter has a strong community following and interacts regularly with them via social media platforms such as face book, twitter together, email newsletters and other fundraising events. Over the summer months, the Dublin SPCA featured in a documentary Animal Clinic which followed the extraordinary work at Ireland’s oldest and largest animal hospital.
The new website needed to present the Dublin SPCA with an improved user interface design and feature-rich website which would easily integrate with social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. The website contains RSS feeds for news and latest animals found and available for adoption. This information is published to a single location via the CMS and is then pushed to these platforms via the RSS feed integration.
The web site also accepts online donations and pet sponsorship payments via monthly direct debits and once off payments.
The DSPCA blog was also created to all the team to promote content publishing across the organisation and will become a key content feature of the site moving forward.
The website redesign project is the first phase of ongoing development work to improve and promote the DSPCA online. Future projects will include an event booking systems, fundraising challenges as well the redesign of the online shop.
